Sports & Recreation

At ESBGC we endeavor to affect change in the minds and lives of young people by providing outlets for growth and development through sports and recreation programs that encourage active healthy living. The intention of these programs is to develop responsible, disciplined active community members. Programs will focus on various traditional and non-traditional sports, assisting youth to develop a long lasting love for sports and recreation. Youth will participate in various sports and recreation opportunities that challenge them, while also developing their mental and physical skills. Our goal is to encourage, engage and empower youth to live an active life through sports and recreation, while becoming positive and effective leaders.

Jr. NBA

The Jr. NBA program is co-ed for ages 5-7. The program assist young players develop fundamental skills through fun interactive sessions. The program is designed to:

  • Provide entry-level basketball program for young children 5 to 7 years old
  • Build a community of league organizers, parents, coaches committed to minor basketball
  • Provide a fun, active and healthy learning environment

The program runs 12 weeks once a week for 45 minutes. It was created in alliance with Canadian Sport 4 Life/Long Term Athlete Development initiatives and is aligned with Canada Basketball’s Developmental Pathway. Games are modified to be age-appropriate, simple and fun.

House League Basketball

The house league program is co-ed for ages 8-12. The program assist young players develop fundamental skills through fun interactive sessions. The program is designed to:

  • Provides both entry-level and skill building for young children 8 to 12 years old
  • Develop their skills through interactive learning
  • Program focuses skill development, individual instruction
  • Provide a fun, active and healthy learning environment

The program runs 12 weeks once a week for 60 minutes. It was created in alliance with Canadian Sport 4 Life/Long Term Athlete Development initiatives and is aligned with Canada Basketball’s Developmental Pathway.

Basketball Training

Basketball Training and Skill Development is a co-ed program open to youth 12 and up. It is designed to improve total fitness, basketball comprehension, and overall confidence. There is also a mentorship component where we help guide any student athlete through the process of their athletic development and life.

Drop-in Basketball

This drop-in basketball program is for youth (13 – 18) of all skill levels that love to play ball in a competitive environment.

KeepOnMoving

This program looks to educate and inspire female youth on what it means to be physically literate, the different ways in being able to do so, and the benefits of it. The program also exposes the youth to different types of sport, play and recreation and aims at educating them on different entry points of organized sport. Youth involved in this program will be provided a nutritious meal at the end of every program that promotes the importance of healthy eating. Tennis (Seasonal)

An introductory set of beginner lessons aimed at exploring all aspects of the game. Children aged 8-12 will have the opportunity to learn the basic strokes, volleys and the serve. Using Tennis Canada’s Progressive Tennis coaching model, players at the end of the session will be able to rally and keep the score for the sport. This is an amazing opportunity for those involved to be exposed to tennis in such a wonderful way that has never been done before.

Skills4U (Seasonal)

Skills4u is a fun & active soccer program which emphasizes skill development and personal fitness. Soccer drills, games and physical literacy components will be overseen by a team of local certified coaches, based on Ontario Soccer Association’s Long-term Player Development Model. Activities are designed to aid in the development of socially/emotional skills as well as a long lasting love for sports and recreation. Our goal is to build discipline, strong work ethics and leadership skills that are transferable to their daily life while encouraging active healthy living.
