This year, we hosted our 16 th Annual Agency Day. A day organized by our staff, for our staff to participate in workshops catered to their overall mental and physical well-being.
Days prior to the event, we were given a list of exciting and interactive workshops that would be happening throughout the day, this way we were able to carefully select our activities for the day, ensuring we made the most of this exciting opportunity.
We kicked off the day with a light breakfast and a heartfelt message from our Executive Director, Utcha Sawyers, and then we were free to roam in and out of workshops. To truly focus on ourselves, it was requested that we keep our phones out of reach, so we can center our minds into the workshops.
The workshops included:
- Gym Activities
- Career Planning
- Art Activities
- Nature Walks
- Bath Bomb making
- Rock Painting
- Physio Consultations
- Quiet Room
It catered to individuals with various personalities, so there was no trouble figuring out where you fit in.
We can describe the day as a rejuvenating experience with a ‘retreat’ like feeling. A break away from the usual “to do” list. Agency Day has contributed to the well-being of the club staff, and treating employees to appreciation days can benefit the workplace in many ways which include:
- Lower Absences
- Increased Employee Loyalty
- An increase in work productivity
- Motivation to do well
- Increased overall well-being
“I did a career development workshop…we talked about some of the barriers of moving up in our personal goals and career goals … and how we can turn that into fulfilling our purpose.” said Shanique one of our Youth Workers here at the club. “I also met a bunch of new people! It was amazing!”
Club staff are at the forefront of our organizations ability to maintain a healthy and happy work environment. Agency day is an opportunity for us to create a space with balanced, positive, happy staff members! A day for the staff to take a break away from the busyness of our usual work day, bond with our co-workers, and focus on their mind, body, and spirit. Most importantly, be appreciated and rewarded for all the ongoing hard work and commitment to our community here in East Scarborough.
Thank you Staff! You are greatly appreciated!
