Program Facilitator Assistant

The Program Facilitator Assistant work as members of the Galloway EarlyON Child & Family Centre team within the categories of Early Years and Family Support, to assist in planning and implementing a high quality learning environment for parents, caregivers and children, from birth to 6 years old.

Program Responsibilities:

  • Provide age-appropriate (open-ended) and culturally diverse activities that supports cognitive, emotional, physical and social development of children
  • Observe children’s interest and create program plans based on children’s interests
  • Work in collaboration with full-time, casual staff to ensure the successful implementation of all programs
  • Ensure assigned program area is set up appropriately
  • Facilitate and model positive interactions between child and adult
  • Provide guidelines and reinforce appropriate behaviors for the children
  • Ensure the cleanliness of the centre at all times; assist coworkers with set up and take down as needed
  • Perform daily disinfecting of toys and program materials
  • Follow health and safety guidelines as defined
  • Perform various administrative duties as assigned. Duties include: answering phones, recording statistical data, providing program related information to families, etc.
  • Participate in team meetings/de-briefing
  • Participate in community activities as required
  • Read and follow guidelines set out in the Boys and Girls Club Staff Operations Manual
  • Maintain open communication with staff team – discuss and resolve any problems/issues and concerns
  • Other related duties as they may arise

Key Qualifications

  • Second language an asset is an asset but not required for this role
  • Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) diploma/degree or in the process of obtaining an asset
  • Individuals who are enthusiastic and energetic
  • Excellent communication, written & organizational skills
  • Good working knowledge of all Microsoft office applications (Word/Excel etc.)
  • Demonstrate a genuine interest in working with children
  • Demonstrate an understanding of leadership skills
  • Experience working or volunteering in programs with children (particularly with children 6 years and younger)
  • Demonstrate ability to plan and implement developmentally appropriate and bias-free activities for children
  • Valid First Aid/CPR certificate (or willing to obtain certificate)

Weekly hours:  27 hours maximum
