Seniors in Action Facilitator

The Boys & Girls Club of East Scarborough is seeking a dynamic, highly motivated individual who is committed to the principles and practices of the Boys & Girls Club. We are currently recruiting for a highly skilled and dynamic individual to join our team of multi-disciplinary staff with a real opportunity to make a difference in the community.

Reporting to: Manager, Early Years Services.

The Seniors in Action program facilitator works as a member of the Early Years team to plan and implement high quality learning activities for seniors. This includes program planning physical activities, craft circles cognitive learning activities, set-up and facilitation of planned activities, as well as meeting with senior leaders to address any gaps or barriers in the programs. In addition, the program facilitator takes this opportunity to maintain communication with partner agencies and carry out outreach duties by distributing flyers and calendar

Successful Candidates will have:

  • Individuals who are enthusiastic and energetic with creative program planning skills
  • Genuine interest in working with seniors
  • Demonstrate time management and leadership skills
  • Experience working or volunteering with seniors in a community
  • Demonstrate an understanding of anti-bias philosophy
  • Legally eligible to work in Canada
  • Effective communication (written and verbal)
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Current First Aid and CPR certificate
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Proficient in Microsoft application (e.g. Word, Excel, Publisher and Outlook)
  • Worker Health and Safety Awareness
  • Food Handling Certificate (an asset)
  • Second language (an asset)
  • Knowledge of the East Scarborough community & it’s diversity


  •  Computer work to research program ideas, input attendance and other related duties
  • Potential exposure to sick participants


  • Job conditions require standing, walking, sitting, making visual inspections, lifting and/or carrying up to 30 lbs., pushing and/or pulling up to 30 lbs., climbing up to 3ft
  • Organizing, sorting and lifting program materials when stocking program storage with crafts, paper and other related program materials

Job Status: Part Time (March’18 to December’18)

Hours : Approx. 8 to 10 hours per week
