We had yet another amazing year with our SKILLS4U Soccer Program! With funds received from the Ontario Trillium Foundation, we were able to offer skills-based programming for children and youth aged 8-15. We engaged with youth coaches and community volunteers who participated in drills and games in a promotion of physical literacy and skills development among some of our community’s children and youth.
This year we did it bigger and better! Building off of our 2016 partnership with University of Toronto Scarborough’s Athletic Department, we were able to launch a second location serving 35-40 children and youth weekly in Malvern! We were also so fortunate to have coaching staff of Canada’s national team participate in one of our sessions! Needless to say, that was a session which our participants, coaches and volunteers thoroughly enjoyed! And thanks to our friends at Hart House, we were able to promote the concept of physical literacy even further.
And to celebrate an incredibly summer, approximately 75 participants, staff and volunteers went to a Toronto FC game together where our SKILLS4U participants were lucky enough to line the tunnel and welcome players onto the field!
Thank you to everyone who helped us run such an amazing program. This experience will be tough to beat!
